Overview
Cede Labs is a GSR and Ledger backed company building liquidity management tools to track and rebalance assets across exchanges and custody solutions seamlessly.
Cede Labs has been working on CEX connectivity for the past 4 years.
After recently receiving inbound requests from institutional players, our team is now addressing the exchange connectivity challenge for custodians, custody providers and their end-customers.
We closed our 4 first clients in the last 4 months.
Problem Statement
TLDR:
- CEX connectivity is hard
- The market demands CEX connectivity but custody solutions fall short
- CEX connectivity is not a core pillar of custody solutions
Problems:
- CEX connectivity is hard
- Complex: Each exchange has unique specificities, making it difficult to standardize and achieve broad coverage.
- Expensive: Maintaining and implementing extensive exchange connectivity demands a dedicated team, driving up operational expenses.
- Slow: Building comprehensive exchange coverage internally takes years, resulting in a delayed time-to-market.
- The market demands CEX connectivity
- Client Demand: Many client personas require both connectivity and a unified institutional-grade policy layer across wallets AND exchanges. Personas like asset managers, corporates, foundations, fintechs, market makers,…
- Market validation: Fireblocks and Copper have dominated the market by offering CEX connectivity, setting them apart from the competition (by far). Many clients are using multiple custody solutions simultaneously, including Fireblocks or Copper to meet their exchange connectivity needs.
- Custody solutions can’t compete: CEX connectivity is a requirement for many clients. That leaves them unable to serve a significant portion of the ecosystem.
- Barriers to CEX Connectivity Adoption
- Non-Core Feature: CEX connectivity is time-consuming and expensive to develop, falling outside the core pillars of custody solutions like key management, blockchain connectivity, transaction policies, and regulatory compliance.
- Strategic Focus: Custody providers prioritize enhancing their existing offerings (such as blockchain support, custody, staking, DeFi, off-exchange settlement,…) rather than investing in CEX connectivity.
Solution
Cede SDK is a CEX connectivity SDK that offers unified methods for integrating exchange tracking, internal transfers, deposits, and withdrawals with minimal coding effort.
Our solution abstracts various logic such as fee computation, internal exchange transfers, rate limits, error handling, network mappings and much more.
Clients own the UI and have the flexibility to choose where to host the SDK and where to store their customers’ CEX API keys.
The Cede SDK currently supports **15 exchanges with more on the way**.
